Tarima Monastrell 2010, Monastrell Wine

Tarima Monastrell 2010, Monastrell Wine

Origin: Spain - 0
Characteristics: Dark, inky hue entices into the rich, sexy body. Notes of dark cherry, spicy cedar and chewy sweet tannins. While this wine is huge it is also quite elegant. Enjoy with beef or your favorite game and watch it elevate the meal. Fantastic.

Expert Review
"The 2010 Tarima is 100% Monastrell made from Alicante grapes. It was fermented and aged sur lie in stainless steel. A glass-coating opaque-purple color, it displays notes of under
brush, brier, violets, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a spicy, forward, nicely proportioned effort that has enough
structure to drink well for another 4-5 years."

Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Characteristics: Cabernet Sauvignon 87%, Merlot 7%, Cabernet Franc 4%, Malbec 1%, Petit Verdot 1% | The 2013 growing season was almost identical to 2012. The year began with another dry winter and spring, then throughout the summer we experienced a warm growing season with
abundant sunshine and even growing temperatures. Our grapes ripened evenly, harvest started 11 days earlier than in 2012 and proceeded at a fairly quick pace ending on October 29th. While news of the lack of rain dominated conversations, there was an upside to the drought; the grapes had more concentrated flavors than in 2012. After harvest the different
lots were de-stemmed , fermented separately, then aged in American and French oak barrels for 14 months.
Wine notes from the winery

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic Alexander Valley wine with medium body, great
fruit flavors and grippy tannins. Winemaker Kevin Hall added 7% Merlot for structure, a touch
of Cabernet Franc for floral notes and Malbec and Petit Verdot for color.

There are aromas of dark fruit, blackberry, cherry, cassis, plum, vanilla and a slight cocoa and
chocolate note. In the glass there are rich flavors of cherry, cassis, blackberry, plum, spice,
tobacco and chocolate. This is a plush wine with medium body, nice balance and a long

My Rating:
Angulo Innocenti Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Characteristics: Good lord. Violets and licorice open onto one of the most fragrant Cabernet Sauvignons I’ve tried. It strikes me as archetypal with its black currants and hint of mint but more refined with musculature less body builder and more Cahors and yet it is a terroir all its own really expressing what Uco can do at its best.

Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2009
Characteristics: Really dark brooding sort of nose. Leather and dark chocolate as well as espresso that makes for a very appealing and complex nose. The flavours are of earth and woodsy things like mushrooms and chicory but all along supported by a fleshiness, alcohol and tannins that promise long slow evolution. Alcohol is 14.5%.
